Escondido's Oldest Art Association and Operator of Escondido's Only Co-Op Gallery

Welcome to the Escondido Art Association

The Escondido Art Association is dedicated to promoting fine arts in our community. Through our gallery on Grand Avenue we provide an outlet for our members and other local artists to display their work. We also host demonstrations by local and nationally known artists at our monthly meetings, providing a place for members to learn new techniques and socialize with fellow artists.

The EAA is active in the community of Escondido: hosting shows benefiting local causes, giving scholarships to local high school students, and even showing member artwork in downtown businesses. Anyone with an interest in the visual arts or the desire to support the EAA is welcome as a member!

Our gallery, The Artists Gallery, on Grand Avenue in Escondido, is open in the evening during the monthly Second Saturday Artwalk. We focus on representational art in all media. Admission is free and we offer a hosted wine bar and hors d'oeuvres. Come see the art and meet the artists!

MARCH 2010 ART DEMO

Cloyd Bedke

Watercolor

Artist Biography:

Cloyd was born in Southern Idaho, growing up on his father’s cattle ranch. Much of his work depicts his heritage, with the beauty of country and the love of land and animal. Graduating from Utah State University with a BS Degree in the Arts, Cloyd worked in the publications business in Utah. Furthering his career as a commercial illustrator and designer, Cloyd moved to Chicago, working with several large advertising agencies. He gained experience as an artist and illustrator by working closely with many prominent illustrators and some of the best. He studied at the Chicago Institute of Fine Art to enhance his fine art, which would shine through in his design. By 1996, Cloyd saw the opportunity to devote full time to his first love, painting. Art has been prevalent all of Cloyd's life, from the time his father encouraged him to draw horses at the age of 6 years old. There is a sensitivity that comes forth, much like the man. As the father of 10 children, experience of life, in many forms, add the the dimension of his art. Bedke's art has found its way into many private collections around the world and is shown in Idaho, Utah, Washington, Arizona, Nevada, California, England & Germany. He is the recipient of many awards, with his watercolors being highly acclaimed. He was licensed by the State of Utah Sesquicentennial Council in 1997 to paint six pictures depicting the pioneer trek west.

ANNOUNCEMENTS

Rancho Bernardo and Escondido Art Associations in Cooperation

The Escondido Art Association (EAA) is attempting a new concept in promoting art activities in the North County. The EAA has 10 annual art demonstrations and 10 annual juried art exhibitions in the Artists Gallery on Grand Avenue in Escondido. The Rancho Bernardo Art association (RBAA) has 6 annual art demonstrations and 6 art critique nights.

The reciprocal cooperation arrangement invites members from, for instance, the RBAA to attend the art demonstrations held by the EAA for a nominal fee of $3 against proof of membership of the RBAA. The monthly art competitions at the Artists Gallery will be open to RBAA members at normal EAA member participation fees against proof of membership of the RBAA.

It will be a challenge in the beginning to keep the flow of information timely in the newsletters of the two associations. Please rely more on the websites for up to date information.
