Escondido's Oldest Art Association and Operator of the Artists' Gallery

Welcome to the Escondido Art Association

The Escondido Art Association is dedicated to promoting fine arts in our community. Through our gallery on Grand Avenue we provide an outlet for our members and other local artists to display their work. We also host demonstrations by local and nationally known artists at our monthly meetings, providing a place for members to learn new techniques and socialize with fellow artists.

The EAA is active in the community of Escondido: hosting shows benefiting local causes, giving scholarships to local high school students, and even showing member artwork in downtown businesses. Anyone with an interest in the visual arts or the desire to support the EAA is welcome as a member!

Our gallery, The Artists Gallery, on Grand Avenue in Escondido, is open in the evening during the monthly Second Saturday Artwalk. We focus on representational art in all media. Admission is free and we offer a hosted wine bar and hors d'oeuvres. Come see the art and meet the artists!

ANNOUNCEMENTS

ART ROTATIONS

The quarterly EAA Art Rotations have changed. Per July 1st, only one artist will be allowed to hang multiple pieces at either the US Bank or the Best Western Hotel. To apply for a slot at these locations, please contact Joan Segel.

The process is as follows;
The artist who has been assigned to show their art during the next period, contacts the artist currently showing at that location. They will arrange a meeting so that any equipment needed to hang the show is passed on. The artists may agree to help each other take down the show and hang the next. The duration of a show at the US bank and the Best Western Hotel is 2 months. The duration of a show at the library is one month, starting at the beginning of that month. For more information, please contact Joan Segel at the Artists Gallery, 760-489-0338, or at 760-741-3117.

Rent-an-Easel program

As of August 5th, the Rent-an-Easel program was introduced in the Artists' Gallery. This program allows artists to rent an easel located in the window of the Artists's Gallery. This location is considered highly desirable due to the high visibility from the street which will increase the probability to sell the art on display.

Up to five easels can be rented by one or more artists at any given time. The cost to rent an easel is $40 per month. The art on the easel can be swapped by the renting artist at their discretion. The art placed on the easel DOES NOT participate in the judged gallery show for that month. However, when an artist rents an easel, he/she can also add up to three works in the judged gallery show at a cost of $5 per painting.

For more information about this program, call Joan Segel at the Artists Gallery, 760-489-0338, or at 760-741-3117.

About the Artist:

Kazuaki Uerhara

Kazuaki Uerhara; I came from Ishigaki island in Okinawa, Japan and have been working as a chef for more than 27 years in the United States.

I think portraiture is a most challenging subject in art because anyone can accurately evaluate the progress in portraiture.

We humans have been receiving a lot of benefit by understanding the universal truths, such as the law of gravity and the law of magnetism. Each time we find the fundamental laws of the universe, we make a great step in the revolution. At the same time, the pursuit of truth is a fundamental purpose not only as a human being but as a portrait painter. Well, so far, the truth that I found in my life is that...I am a lonely person. Yet, by overcoming this life condition, I will be accomplishing my own human revolution, and it will also be the great revolution through every stroke in my canvas.

"Art is nothing more than my life itself."
